Chapter 6. Creating and Modifying Graphics > Working with Photo Galleries

Working with Photo Galleries

A photo gallery on a Web site is a great way to offer your visitors a collection—or even multiple collections—of images organized into specific categories or themes. For example, if you're selling artisan crafts on your site, you could place all your kitchen-related products in one gallery, all your baby-related products in another, and so on. Such galleries can reside as separate collections or be linked together into a Web album through the addition of a link bar (see Chapter 12, “Creating a Navigation Structure,” for more information).

A gallery is a smart way to create a photo collection and avoid placing too many oversized images on your individual pages. By organizing the images into galleries, those who want to view your images can do so, while those who don't–—or who suffer from much slower connections–—can opt out of opening lots of images while still being able to view your regular pages.
