Renaming and Rearranging Pages in the Navigation Structure

With the start of a navigation structure in place, you have to know how to manipulate it so that your structure remains accurate and useful as you make additions and changes to the site itself. In this section, you'll learn how to rename pages in your navigation structure, rearrange them so they appear where they should, and remove pages you no longer want.

Renaming a Page in the Navigation Structure

The names of the pages that appear in Navigation view are actually the titles of your pages rather than the pages' file names. Although you might have saved a new Web page with a file name of widget.htm, and although that is the name that will appear in Folders and Page Design views, the page's title is what you'll see in Navigation view, as well as in the title bar of the visitor's browser when the page is displayed online. The default title for every page is often “Untitled” or “New Page x,” but you can modify your title when you click the Page Title button (which opens the Page Title dialog box) from the Save or Save As window as you learned in Chapter 2, “Creating Sites and Pages.”
