Chapter 8. Adding Multimedia > Working with Flash

Working with Flash

Macromedia Flash is a multimedia platform that works well for site visitors regardless of the browser being used. It's also supported for use with FrontPage, which means you can include Flash content in your site. Such content can take the form of animation, Flash movies, or professional presentations.

To use Flash, you need a Flash file to insert on a page on your site; FrontPage enables you to add such files ending in these file extensions: .spl, .swf, and .swt. The way most people obtain Flash content is to find a site online that freely distributes a file or files recorded in that format (search using the Google search engine, for example), although you can also record your own using Flash-creation software like that available from Macromedia (www.macromedia.com).
