Working with Sound Files

Many Web designers are tempted to add music and other sound files to their sites, and there are many legitimate reasons to do so. For example, a Web site specializing in music sales might want to share samples of its collection. Likewise, a company that has written theme music for radio or TV ads might want to play that theme for visitors arriving at the site. Other sites might choose to add music to commemorate holidays, such as Christmas or Halloween.

Of course, not all sound files contain music. For example, a sound file might include a short recorded script or skit, a voiceover offering a company slogan, or even a full-length audio presentation such as a speech.
