Lesson 11. Using FrontPage Themes > Selecting a Theme for the Web Site

Selecting a Theme for the Web Site

As already mentioned, you can assign a theme to the entire Web site (for a completely unified look and layout) or you can assign themes to individual pages or groups of selected pages. Let's take a look at how to assign a theme to all the pages in a Web site:

  1. In the Navigation or Page view, select the Format menu and then select Theme The Themes dialog box appears (see Figure 11.2).

Figure 11.2. The Themes dialog box gives you access to all the FrontPage themes.

  2. If necessary, select the All Pages option button.

  3. To choose your theme, scroll through the themes in the Theme scroll box. Select a particular theme to see a preview of the theme in the Sample of Theme box in the dialog box.

  4. When you have found the theme you want to use for your Web site, select it.

  5. You have several options related to the theme that appear in the lower left of the themes dialog box. These check boxes control the following attributes:

    • Vivid colors: Select this check box to use a more vivid color set with the theme.

    • Active graphics: This setting provides more elaborate buttons, bullets, and banners (active graphics using animated items on the page). Checked by default, clear this check box to use a set of non-animated graphics.

    • Background picture: Selected by default, clear this check box if you do not want to use the theme's background graphic on your Web page.

    • Apply using CSS: FrontPage themes automatically change the HTML code of your pages. To have the theme attached as a style sheet to your Web page, select this check box.

  6. After making your selections in the check boxes, click OK.
