Chapter 14. Working with an Existing Web > Loading a FrontPage Web

Loading a FrontPage Web

Creating new webs is all well and good, but much more time is spent modifying, updating, and managing existing ones. To work with a FrontPage web using FrontPage's features, you begin by loading the web into the FrontPage program. You can do so by selecting File, Open Web or by clicking the down arrow beside the Open icon on the FrontPage toolbar and then selecting the Open Web icon from the drop-down menu. A third way is to select Recent Webs from the File menu and then select the web you want to load. Alternatively, if you want, you can specify that when you launch FrontPage, you want the most recently modified web automatically loaded as well; you specify this in the Startup area of the Options dialog box (available through Tools, Options).

Either of the first two options yields the Open Web dialog box. Studying this dialog box is important because some of its elements are somewhat hidden. First, there are two main areas to look for your webs: The first is in Web Folders; the second in the My Webs folder. Web Folders is found in the lower-left corner of the Open File dialog box, inside the Action bar. It can also be found in your computer's My Computer folder, accessible by clicking the down arrow beside the Look In field and then clicking My Computer at the top of the list. My Webs is found in the C:\My Documents folder and is accessible by clicking the down arrow beside the Look In field.
