Getting Extra Functionality from Apache

FrontPage and Apache work very well together, on a UNIX or Linux platform though. As we have seen, that means that some features of the FP Server Extensions just won't work because they rely on features of Internet Information Services that are unavailable on UNIX/Linux operating systems.

Data-Driven Environment in Apache

FrontPage has some great Database functionality, but only if you use IIS because FrontPage relies on Active Server Pages. This presents problems for some users who want to do some data-driven pages. Even though FrontPage users on Apache web servers won't be able to use the database features of FrontPage, there are a number of alternatives that you can provide. Unfortunately, all alternatives will require hand-coding or third-party tools that are not compatible with FrontPage. For many Apache users who like FrontPage but also require database functionality this is a trivial issue. The following are two of the most common ways to add data-driven pages to an Apache web server.
