Chapter 31. SharePoint Team Services > Integration with FrontPage 2002

Integration with FrontPage 2002

SharePoint integrates well with FrontPage 2002 on a number of levels. First, the SharePoint Team Services server extensions are in fact the FrontPage 2002 Server Extensions with added features. Without the FrontPage Server Extensions 2002, you can't run a SharePoint service. Period.

But in other aspects, the integration is equally strong, and more noticeably so from the team administrator and team member standpoints. When you open a SharePoint web in FrontPage 2002, FrontPage automatically adopts the SharePoint way of doing things. For example, as Figure 31.1 shows, the Administration Home option becomes available in the Tools, Server submenu. The Permissions option is still available (it's the only option available on a non-SharePoint site), but selecting it results in a completely different method of changing site permissions. We'll examine Permissions Administration in detail in this chapter, but for now, suffice it to say that it's a far richer and far more complex administration tool than it is in standard FrontPage.
