Testing the Personal Web Server

You should test the PWS before proceeding. The machine on which you installed the PWS will be either a standalone or a networked machine, so we'll cover these two essential cases.

Testing the PWS on a Standalone Machine

The PWS communicates only through the TCP/IP protocol. Therefore, a standalone machine, from the point of view of the PWS, can be either a PC that has no networking connections at all (except possibly a dial-up connection to the Internet) or a PC that is connected to a network that does not use the TCP/IP protocol.
