Troubleshooting

Effects of Deleting the Root Web

The wwwroot folder at C:\InetPub\wwwroot was accidentally deleted, and all my FrontPage server-based webs have vanished.

The Personal Web Server is reasonably bulletproof. If you're merely using it as the development server for FrontPage 2002, you'll likely be unaware of its existence most of the time. One essential thing to remember is not to accidentally delete the root web, which at default is located at C:\InetPub\wwwroot. You cannot delete the root web from within FrontPage, but you can do so through Windows Explorer. Deleting it takes all its subwebs with it, so exercise due caution!
