Understanding and Using Video

The basic principle of adding video clips to a page is the same as adding audio clips. Video comes in files of various formats, but they all have one thing in common: They're big. When linking to such a file, you should be sure to indicate how big it is so that people can decide for themselves whether they want to wait for it to download.

The major video formats on the Web now are MPEG, QuickTime (an Apple format), AVI, ASF, and RM. All these are compressed formats, but even with compression they are large.
