Using Tables for Better Content Organization

Like lists, tables are common on the Web, although you might not be aware that you're looking at a table when you view a Web page. In fact, tables are frequently used to organize a page's layout because tables can contain most types of Web content. The page author simply creates a table with a column and row arrangement and then inserts the desired page content into the appropriate places. Rendering the cell borders invisible hides any evidence that there's a table on the page.

This technique gives a page author tremendous flexibility in arranging data and images (see Figure 9.1).
