What a Real-World Example Looks Like

Figure 7.5 shows how the two-column body with contents on left template might be modified to be the basis of a layout in a real Web site. This page is from the Yale/CAIM Style Manual, an excellent guide to the principles of Web page design, which you can find at http://info.med.yale.edu/caim/manual/contents.html.

The page is shown in the FrontPage workspace, so the table boundaries are visible as dotted lines. The leftmost column is margin whitespace and provides a hanging indent for the "Web Style Guide" title. Next come the main navigation area in the second column, a spacer, the main text area, and finally the rightmost column (which is used for sidebars).
