Design Corner: Working Around the Wizards and Templates

Don't feel hamstrung by the documents created by the wizards or templates. These are simply a starting point, ideas to consider, and you should plan extensive changes to what FrontPage initially creates. You'll should completely rethink the Customer Support Web, for example, because every business has unique service needs. You should add pages and even full sections, and you'll find that you simply don't need some pages. But when you make changes, remember to ensure that the navigation pages work after each change.

You'll also want to customize the way the web works. For example, the Customer Support Web includes a bug report page. If you decide to keep this area, be sure you modify the form fields to ask for specific bug information and also to direct the customers'reports to the appropriate personnel. You also should ensure that only registered customers have access to the bug reports (if everyone on the web has access to it, you're liable to get a lot of prank reports). One way to protect a single page or two such as this is to create a subweb called, say, /bugreports; move these two pages into that web; and restrict browsing permissions to registered users only.
