ISPs Versus WPPs

Why choose a WPP over your ISP? There are two reasons. The first is that a dedicated WPP almost always offers a better range of web serving features (not Internet features, just web serving features) for a better price than does the ISP. Second, ISPs are primarily concerned with keeping users connected to the Internet, including corporate connections; it takes precedence over all other activities. For WPPs, on the other hand, serving webs is the only business. For that reason, they have to provide competitive pricing (there are hundreds of WPPs available to users) and they have to make sure their Web servers stay up and running with a strong, fast connection to the Net.

This brings up another advantage to WPPs: If your ISP is having network problems, your web will also have problems. Splitting the two services means you don't have all your eggs in one basket. Of course, the other side of this argument is that you have double the potential difficulty, but the business competition for both types of providers helps with that kind of problem. You can always switch to another service.
