Creating a Disk-Based Web

If you haven't already created a web, you're probably itching to find out what it's actually like to do so—let's begin. This is just a quick run-through to get you used to FrontPage's behavior. You'll learn about web creation in detail later in the book. The web you create here will be disk-based; in other words, it will consist of a collection of folders containing linked pages and page elements, and will not be hosted by a Web server.

See Part III, "Web Creation and Management," for an exhaustive treatment of setting up, configuring, and maintaining Webs. Select the Windows Start button, go to Programs, and select Microsoft FrontPage. FrontPage 2000 opens after a short pause (see Figure 2.1). Choose File, New, Web from the menu bar. You immediately see a dialog box with a list of web templates and wizards.
