Troubleshooting

Relative positioning (page 519) may present you with some difficulties when you try using it at first. Unlike absolute positioning, it places an element at a fixed point in the text flow. Unlike static positioning, however, relatively positioned elements are located relative to where they would be if they flowed normally onto the page.

When you are editing a page in Page View, the effects of setting relative positioning do not show up in the Normal mode, only in Preview mode. This isn't a bug. In most cases, relative positioning is used for animation purposes. In cases where the initial setting might place some text off the page, and then a script is used to "warp" it onto the page, making relative positioning appear as WYSIWYG would cause this text to be uneditable.
