FrontPage TCP/IP Test

A surprisingly useful FrontPage 2000 package utility is the TCP/IP Test. TCP/IP Test is found in the FrontPage Explorer's Help menu. Choose Help, About Microsoft FrontPage Explorer, and then click the Network Test button. This yields the FrontPage TCP/IP Test box, where you see a Start Test button. Clicking this button gives you useful information about the behavior of your TCP/IP network connection.

The TCP/IP protocol is the protocol under which the Internet operates. To be on the Internet, in fact, a computer must be running the TCP/IP protocol. You can be on other networks without it, but not on the Internet. Computers connected to LANs sometimes share the TCP/IP stacks necessary to connect to the Internet, but the protocol is there even if the individual machine doesn't know it.
