Testing the PWS on a Standalone Machine

The PWS communicates only through the TCP/IP protocol. Therefore a standalone machine, from the point of view of the PWS, can be either a PC that has no networking connections at all (except possibly a dialup connection to the Internet) or is connected to a network that does not use the TCP/IP protocol.

Note

If you are testing the PWS on an NT Workstation machine that has no network interface card at all, you will need to install the MS Loopback Adapter. This software driver can be installed when Workstation is first installed, or later by choosing Control Panel, Network, Adapters, Add, and choosing MS Loopback Adapter from the adapter list.
