Administrating IIS 4

IIS 4 allows for both local administration through a Microsoft Management Console snap-in, and remote administration through an administrative Web site that IIS 4 generates.

Local Administration

IIS 4 uses an MMC snap-in to provide its administrative interface. The new MMC architecture can make things much easier for a weary administrator. The new architecture allows for some customization, but also allows for the creation of custom MMC files that tailor the snap-ins you want. This allows users administrative control of IIS 4, Index Server 2.0, Transaction Server 2.0, and the FrontPage 2000 server extensions—all in the same application.
