Script Support in ASP

The previous source code examples exhibit some basic features of Active Server Pages in use. You may have also noticed that there were very few script commands used in the examples, but that written was accomplished using VBScript. In theory, script within an ASP file can be designed in any language that conforms to Microsoft's Active Scripting model. ASP currently supports two primary languages that are also common for client-side browser scripting: VBScript and JavaScript.

You can determine the scripting language for use within an ASP file by either setting the language attribute globally for the file or by configuring each block of script as code written in a particular language. To set the language of an ASP file for the entire document, you can use the following command at the top of the ASP file itself:
