The Rest of the Family

Now that FrontPage is part of the Microsoft Office family of applications, it has the capability to access and manipulate each of the application object models in the suite. The other office applications—Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook—all provide at least a minimal level of HTML content generation. One of Office 2000's big objectives is to provide the user many different ways to generate and manage his or her HTML content.

Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint all provide the capability to save files to and open files from a FrontPage-based Web site. In addition, because these Office applications are using the FrontPage server extensions under the hood, each provides some FrontPage- specific functionality in its user interface. For example, Word provides a Theme feature that allows you to apply FrontPage-based themes.
