Chapter 21. Collaboration and Office 2000 > Office 2000 and the Internet

Office 2000 and the Internet

Office 2000 is Microsoft's attempt at integrating its Office applications with the Internet. Office 2000 Internet protocols and file formats are actually native to all of their applications. Every program in the Office suite is able to write its content to a Web page as easily as it could the computer screen or printer. This integration makes Office 2000 a viable Internet content creation option.

Also included in Office 2000 is the introduction of HTML as a native file format and Web folders as a file storage option. These two features help bring users unfamiliar with traditional Internet tools into the world of content creation.
