Chapter 40. Advanced Database Techniques > Using Network Databases

Using Network Databases

Now that you have an understanding of why you should consider using larger-scale database systems, you need to understand how FrontPage 2000 makes use of these databases. As complex as advanced database management systems appear, connecting to them with FrontPage 2000 is not very difficult. This chapter concentrates on using Microsoft SQL Server, although many of the techniques can be used equally on other database systems, such as Oracle, or on legacy systems via ODBC drivers.

Making the Connection

To incorporate results from databases within a Web page, you can use the Database Results Wizard (which is covered in Chapter 39). After you have created your Web site and added a page to the project, choose Insert, Database, Results from the FrontPage 2000 menu to invoke the wizard.
