Part 2: Making Your FrontPage Site Content-Rich

Part 2: Making Your FrontPage Site Content-Rich

Now that you know more about Microsoft Office FrontPage 2003, let’s look at how you can use FrontPage to create polished, professional Web sites that are content-rich. To start with, Chapter 4 looks at the key features you can use when crafting pages, including horizontal lines, bulleted lists, and hypertext links. Once you get the hang of these core features, we’ll help you take your Web design skills to the next level. Chapter 5, “Enhancing Design with Themes,” and Chapter 6, “Polishing Design with Style Sheets,” explore more advanced features, including themes and style sheets. With themes, you can use custom designs built in to FrontPage to polish the look and feel of your Web site. With style sheets, you get precise control over the placement of elements and their style.

To add pizzazz to your Web pages, Chapter 7, “Using Pictures in Web Pages,” and Chapter 8, “Going Beyond the Ordinary: Photo Galleries, Soundtracks, Video and Picture Maps,” show you how to use multimedia in Web pages. Multimedia is a catchphrase for the various types of media that are available, including still images, video and audio. FrontPage includes many helpful tools for working with these types of media. So whether you want to add clip art, a background image, or a soundtrack to a Web page, you’ll find the answers in Chapter 7 and Chapter 8.

The final chapter of this part discusses tables. Not only will you learn how to create tables, you’ll also learn how to customize the appearance of tables, using background colors, images, custom borders and spacing techniques. The chapter doesn’t discuss using tables for layout, however. You’ll find a separate design discussion covering layout tables in Chapter 11, “Advanced Layout with Tables and Layers.”
