Introducing Portals

To some people, a portal is nothing more than a home page. To others, it’s a piece of software that constructs home pages on the fly based on visitor identification or preferences. Another group defines portals as document libraries configured so that Web visitors can find the information they need by using keyword indexing and search facilities rather than hard-coded hyperlinks. In fact, all of these definitions are partially correct.
