Chapter 12. Using Page Templates > Selecting Style Sheet Templates

Selecting Style Sheet Templates

Templates in this category create CSS files. These files have no visual appearance of their own; instead, they contain lines of code that change the typographical properties (that is, the style) of standard HTML objects or of objects that depend on a custom style.

If you’re fairly new to creating Web pages, you might want to ignore CSS for a little while. As you gain experience, however, you’ll probably recognize the futility of trying to maintain uniform appearance throughout your Web site when you apply typographical formatting to a word, a sentence, or a paragraph at a time. You’ll wish there were some way to specify formats centrally and have any number of pages refer to them. When this happens, it’ll be time to take another look at CSS.
