Transporting a Web Site on Removable Media

To transport a Web on ZIP, DirectCD, or other read-write removable media, first open the local Web site and publish it as a disk-based Web on the removable media. When the removable media arrives at its destination, open the disk-based Web site in FrontPage and then publish it to its permanent location. A similar procedure applies if you prefer to use packages. Open the local Web site, export the package to the read-write removable media, and then open the remote Web site and import the package. (The next section will explain packages.)

Transporting a FrontPage-based Web site on CD-R or DVD-R media presents additional challenges because the Publish Web Site and Export Package commands update certain files multiple times. Therefore, you must do the following:
