Chapter 16. Publishing Your FrontPage-Ba... > Publishing Single Files and Folders

Publishing Single Files and Folders

Sometimes it’s very handy to publish just a single file or folder. For example, you might know exactly which files you changed recently and want to avoid the time required to determine changes by comparing the source and destination Web sites over a slow link. Another scenario occurs when your working copy of a Web contains both finished and unfinished changes, and you want to publish only the finished ones. FrontPage provides three ways of doing this:

  • Open both Webs in FrontPage, and drag the files or folders you want to publish from one Folder List or Folders view to the other.

  • If you want to publish individual files or folders to the remote Web site that Remote Web Site view is configured to use, take these steps:

    1.
Right-click the file or folder in the Folder List or in Folders view.

    2.
Choose Publish Selected Files from the shortcut menu.

    3.
FrontPage displays the progress message shown in Figure 16-16. When this message disappears, the operation is complete.

Figure 16-16. FrontPage displays this progress message while publishing individual Web pages you select.

  • To publish individual files in either direction from Remote Web Site view, proceed as follows:

    1.
Switch to Remote Web Site view.

    2.
In the list for the source Web, select the file or folder you want to publish, and then do one of the following:

    • Right-click the selection, and then choose Publish Selected Files from the shortcut menu.

    • Click the --> or <-- button between the two Web site lists. (Only one of these buttons will be enabled, depending on which Web site list contains the file or folder you selected.
