Using a Custom Form Handler

Just because you used FrontPage to create an HTML form doesn’t mean you must use the FrontPage Server Extensions or Windows SharePoint Services to process it. In fact, you can use any type of server-side program you want. Here’s how to configure an HTML form for processing by a custom program that runs on the Web server:

1.
Open the Web page that contains the HTML form.

2.
Use either of the following procedures to display the Form Properties dialog box:

  • Right-click anywhere in the form, and choose Form Properties from the shortcut menu.

  • Set the insertion point anywhere within the form, choose Form from the Insert menu, and then choose Form Properties.

3.
Under Where To Store Results, select the Send To Other option, and make sure Custom ISAPI, NSAPI, CGI, Or ASP Script is selected in the accompanying drop-down list.

4.
Click Options to display the Options For Custom Form Handler dialog box, shown in Figure 35-11.
