Creating Top 10 Lists

Top 10 Lists provide a quick and easy way to display Web site statistics to Web visitors with no special authority. Seven Top 10 Lists are available, and you can provide all, some, or none of them to visitors as you choose. Here are the seven lists:

  • Top 10 Visited Pages Displays the 10 pages in your Web site that visitors requested the most. Figure 31-1 provides a sample of this report.

    Figure 31-1. The Top 10 Visited Pages report lists the 10 most popular pages in your Web site for the current month.

  • Top 10 Referring URLs Displays the 10 most common pages outside your Web site that directed visitors into your Web site. Figure 31-2 illustrates this report.

  • Top 10 Referring Domains Displays the 10 most common Web servers (other than yours) that directed visitors into your Web site. Figure 31-3 illustrates this and the remaining four reports. In a real-life situation each report would, of course, display more than one line.

  • Top 10 Operating Systems Displays the 10 most common operating systems that visitors to your Web site were using.

  • Top 10 Browsers Displays the 10 most common browsers that visitors to your Web site were using.

  • Top 10 Visiting Users Displays the user names of the 10 visitors who accessed your Web site most frequently.

  • Top 10 Search Strings Displays the 10 most common keywords that visitors used to locate your site on one of the large Internet search engines.
