Setting Up a Master Page

Because you want the ads to appear as a series, they will all be similar in layout; only the content will be different in each ad. Instead of applying the same design elements to different pages, you'll use a master page that will contain the common elements. This is beneficial not only when creating the files, but also when making edits. For example, when the client asks for the logo to be made larger, you can make the change on the master page; all the other pages will update automatically.

Double-click on A-Master in the Pages palette to switch to that master page (see Figure 14.9). Start by dragging a horizontal guide to the 7.125-inch mark, which you will need later. Drag a second horizontal guide to the 10.75-inch mark, which will be the baseline for the logo (see Figure 14.10).
