Q&A

Q1:My Web site has started showing up in Google. This causes some of my visitors to miss my home page because they show up directly on a different page. How can I prevent this?
A1: One way to prevent it is to add a robots parameter to pages that has the value NOINDEX. If this was on every page but the home page, Google would drop all of those pages from its database.

However, this solution will eliminate a large source of visits to your site because your pages won't be in Google anymore to be found during searches.

A better solution is to make sure your site can be navigated by users regardless of which page they start on. If every one of your pages contains a link to your home page and a link bar to the main sections of your site, you can give visitors from Google and other search engines an easy way to find their way around.
