Lesson 5. Viewing Your Publications > Working with Rulers and Guide Lines

Working with Rulers and Guide Lines

Another visual aspect of working on your publications is the use of the rulers and guides. A vertical and a horizontal ruler are supplied in the Publication window to help you place items on the page. Guides are really extensions of the rulers and appear as lines (both vertical and horizontal) that you can drag onto the document page from either ruler to help you appropriately place text and pictures on the page.

Plain English

Guides A layout guide is a nonprinting vertical or horizontal line that you place on the publication page to help you align the various elements the publication contains. Guides appear on the document page in green.
