Creating Mailing Labels

The mailing label is another special publication type that deserves some discussion. Many companies make mailing labels for printers. Avery mailing labels are considered the standard, however, and the wizards and Page Setup dialog box both use Avery label numbers to configure the size and number of labels that come on the label sheet that you place in your printer.

If you want to use labels made by a company other than Avery, many manufacturers supply the Avery number that their label is an equivalent to. Look for this information on the label packaging. You can also measure and count the labels that you have on the sheets that you purchased and try to match them up with the specifications for one of the Avery label types listed.
