Lesson 15. Creating Imagemaps > Creating Imagemaps with FrontPage

Creating Imagemaps with FrontPage

The first step in creating an imagemap is selecting the image you are going to use. Because GIF and JPEG image files are native to the Web and can be read by all browsers, you are encouraged to choose a file in one of these two formats. You also want to select an image file that is relatively small and will be loaded quickly by the user's browser.

So what makes a good imagemap? A good imagemap is any image that makes it easy to navigate around your Web site. You can use images of actual maps. You can also use images that contain text. Think of some of the sites you have visited where you have seen and used imagemaps and try to remember whether they helped or hindered your efforts to navigate through the site.
