Lesson 5. Building a Web Site > Setting up a simple Web site in GoLive

Setting up a simple Web site in GoLive

1.
Start GoLive.

2.
Choose File > New.

3.
In the New dialog box, select Create Site in the Site panel, choose Blank Site in the Site Creation Wizard panel, and click Next.

4.
In the Specifying a Site name and Location panel, type simple site in the Name field, and then click the Browse button under the Save To field. In the Browse for Folder (Windows) / Please select the root folder (Mac OS) dialog box, navigate to and select the Lesson05 folder, and then click OK / Choose. Back in the New dialog box, click Next.

5.
In the Use a Version Control System? panel, select Don't Use Version Control, and click Next.

6.
In the Publish Server Options panel, select Specify Server Later, and click Finish.

GoLive will open a site window. Under the Files tab, an icon for the currently blank home page can be seen, called index.html. By default, GoLive also creates a style sheet in a folder called css. You will learn more about these Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) in Lesson 7. For now you can ignore that folder and its content.

Note

The additional tabs on the right side of the window can be shown or hidden by using the Toggle split view button located in the lower left corner of the site window.
