Defining a bleed area

1.
Click the More Options button to reveal the Bleed and Slug settings area of the dialog box.

2.
Type 0.125 in as Top value for the Bleed, and then click the Make all settings the same icon—at the right-hand end of the Bleed settings—to set the Bottom, Left, and Right Bleed values to the same measurement. Ignore the Slug settings. (A slug area around the document can be used for additional information related to the document, like instructions to the printer or customized color bar information. Objects in the bleed and slug area of the document are printed, but will be removed when the document is trimmed to its final page size.)

3.
Click OK.

InDesign will open a new window with a document the size of a business card.
