Assembling the logo

1.
Select the flower symbol in Basics Green. Hold down the Alt / Option key, and then drag a copy of the flower symbol slightly to the left and above the basics wordmark. (See illustration on next page.)

2.
With the flower symbol still selected, choose Object > Transform > Rotate, enter -15 as value for the Angle, and click OK.

3.
Click the Basics wordmark to select it. In the Control palette, click the Constrain Width and Height Proportions button, and then enter a width of 190 pt to slightly enlarge the wordmark. Constrain Width and Height Proportions assures that the height of the wordmark gets scaled proportionally with the width, and the type does not get distorted.

4.
Select the Basics Green flower symbol at the left, and choose Filter > Stylize > Drop Shadow.

Note

There are two Stylize entries under the Filter menu, one in the group of Illustrator Filters, and one in the group of Photoshop Filters. Select the Drop Shadow filter from the Stylize submenu in the group of Illustrator Filters.

5.
In the Drop Shadow dialog box, select Multiply as Mode, 75% Opacity, X Offset of -7 pt, Y Offset of 5 pt, and a Blur value of 2.5 pt.

6.
Still in the Drop Shadow dialog box, click the black Color square to bring up the Color Picker dialog box. Click Color Swatches, select the Basics Blue color, and click OK.

7.
Click OK again to close the Drop Shadow dialog box.

8.
Choose Select > Deselect, and then save the work.

Transparency

Using transparency features to create see-through effects can help you add interest to your designs. The integration and support of transparency between the applications of Adobe Creative Suite 2 has been further streamlined.

In the “Getting Started with Transparency” guide provided on the Adobe Creative Suite 2 Classroom in a Book CD (Adobe Studio/White Papers/Transparency 1.pdf), you will find additional information on working with transparency, and guidelines on choosing (or customizing) flattener presets.
