Chapter 4. Views and Navigation > Moving Between Pages

Moving Between Pages

You are able to easily move between the pages in your document using a variety of tools.

Pages Palette

The Pages palette provides an icon representing each page in your document (see Figure 4-2). You can double-click on a page icon to move to that page. The page number that you are currently viewing appears bold in the Pages palette.

Document Window Navigation

The current page and zoom magnification is always listed in the navigation panel in the lower-left corner of the document window. Move to a specific page by clicking the down arrow at the right of the page number and then select a page from the pop-up list (see Figure 4-3). To move forward or backward within the document by clicking the right or left facing arrows.

The Navigator Palette

InDesign’s Navigator palette shows a tiny representation of an entire page or the entire document. A red box in the palette identifies the area which is currently visible on screen. At the bottom of the palette, you can use the sliding triangle to zoom in or zoom out of the page by dragging it right or left. Use this palette to efficiently navigate oversized documents such as posters and gate-folds.
