22. Character Formatting

In this chapter, we begin to consider the kinds of formatting which can be applied to text, and how that is done in InDesign. This chapter focuses on character-level formatting, including selecting such things as typeface, font size, type styling attributes, and so on. One big difference between the programs: InDesign and PageMaker treat leading as a character attribute, rather than as a paragraph attribute, as XPress does. Fortunately, we’ll tell you about a preference that can change that.
