Importing Transparent Objects

With InDesign you can import transparent graphics saved as native Photoshop (.PSD), Illustrator (.AI), or Acrobat 5 or 6 PDF documents (PDF 1.4 or later). For example, you can create a cloud with wispy, feathered edges in Photoshop (fading out to Photoshop’s checkerboard transparency) and when you bring it into InDesign the soft edge is retained, revealing any InDesign objects under it (see Figure 39-1).
