Chapter 38. Creating and Applying Colors > Mixed Ink Swatches and Groups

Mixed Ink Swatches and Groups

What QuarkXPress calls Multi-ink colors—combinations of spot colors, or spot and process colors—InDesign calls mixed ink swatches. To use this feature, you need to have at least one spot color in your Swatches palette.

You can create a mixed ink swatch by choosing New Mixed Ink Swatch from the Swatches palette flyout menu. In the New Mixed Ink Swatch dialog box (see Figure 38-5), choose an ink, and enter a tint percentage of this color by either dragging the slider, or typing a value. Continue this process for one or more other colors. Then click Add to add the color to the Swatches palette, and either continue adding swatches or click OK.
