Chapter 31. Clipping Paths > Converting Clipping Paths to Frames

Converting Clipping Paths to Frames

Every so often, you need to convert a clipping path into an actual shape on the page. For example, you might want to place text on a path around an image in the same shape as the clipping path. This is simply impossible in PageMaker or QuarkXPress. However, you can do it easily in InDesign: Just right-click (or Control-click on the Mac) on the image to open the context menu, from which you can select Convert Clipping Path to Frame. InDesign replaces the image’s frame with a new frame in the shape of the clipping path.
