Converting Text to Outlines

When you work in graphic design, you frequently need to alter character shapes for logos or packaging designs. For years, we dreamed about the ability to turn type into paths (or “outlines”) we could edit. Finally, applications such as FreeHand and Illustrator added the feature. And, as you’d expect in a modern page layout program, InDesign has it.

You can convert characters from just about any font (including TrueType, PostScript Type 1, and OpenType fonts) for which you have the printer (outline) font.
