Separations Preview

If there’s one feature we’ve longed for since desktop publishing programs gained the ability to print color separations (yes, Junior, there was a time when they didn’t), it’s a separations preview—a way that we could look at the individual separations of a document before committing them to expensive imagesetter film or printing plates.

We’ve tried all sorts of workarounds—rasterizing files in Photoshop and then splitting channels; printing separations to disk and then converting the PostScript to PDF using Acrobat Distiller...you name it, we’ve probably tried it in our quest to see what our separations would look like without having to print them.
