Grids

InDesign can display two different grids: the document grid and the baseline grid. Both grids are arrangements of guidelines spaced a specified distance apart. (Note that the baseline grid is not truly a grid, as it has no vertical guidelines.) You’ll find the settings for both grids in the Grids Preferences dialog box, as described in Chapter 1, “Workspace.”

To display a grid, choose the corresponding option (Show Document Grid or Show Baseline Grid) from the View menu, or from the context menu (when nothing is selected, and when a tool other than the Text tool is active). You can also hide or show the document grid by pressing Command-‘/Ctrl-’. Add the option key to this to hide or show the baseline grid.
