Chapter 25. XML > XML “basics”

XML “basics”

XML (Extensible Markup Language) is a simple structured language that helps manage information by identifying data, be it data you enter directly into the XML file or data in a text or data base file. Once identified, that data can be selectively extracted and placed in other files or organized in ways that differ from the original source. XML data can be output as HTML files for the Web or can be used for print output. The avenue.quark XTension, which converts QuarkXPress content into XML format, is included with QuarkXPress .

The XML Workspace palette lets you view XML elements and their content. Here, the elements are matched up to the style sheets used in a Quark XPress layout.
