Creating image maps

Images can do more than just make a Website look nice—they also can be used to create interactive image maps to link users to other pages or sites. To do this, first an image is divided into regions, which are called “hot areas,” and then each region is assigned a unique link . If a user clicks a hot area, he or she is taken to another Web page or site . Image maps are fun to use, and they look better than text links!

In this image map, each hot area represents one of the 48 Continental States. When users click a state, they jump to another Web page.
