Chapter 19. Web Layouts > Form can-do's

Form can-do's

  • When you move a form box, any form controls within the box will move along with it.

  • A control can be duplicated within the same form box, provided there's sufficient room for the duplicate in the box.

  • You can scale a form box as you would any other box (click the box with the Item or Content tool, then drag any handle).

  • Form boxes can be positioned on any layer on a page; layer features are fully functional.

  • Form boxes are deleted in the same way other standard items are: Click the box with the Item or Content tool, then press Delete/Backspace or Cmd-K/Ctrl-K.

  • To copy a control, Copy or Cut it using the Item tool, then Paste it into its current form box or into another form box (the box must be large enough to accommodate it). A control can also be dragged from one form box to another.

  • The Group command is available for controls inside a form box.

    Editing controls

To edit an existing control, select the control box—not the surrounding form box—choose Item > Modify, click Form, then change any of the settings.

  • Form boxes can be created in table cells. If a project containing such an item is saved in QuarkXPress 5.0 format, the form box will convert to a table cell with a content of None.

  • To apply a background color and shade to a form box, use the Colors palette or Item > Modify > Box. Some form controls (e.g., radio buttons, check boxes) have opaque white backgrounds. Image Button, Radio Button, and Check Box controls can have a background of None.
